How does the INSURANCE CREDIT work?

Add claims. "Insurance credit " is the amount that you credit the patient pending payment from their insurance provider (the amount you "accept assignment" on).

Transaction Page. Click "+Claim" to add a claim

If there are no insurance payers listed, enter them in the PATIENT window. Notice that the usual co-pay amount is also listed

OD Link will guess at the amount you want to bill the insurance (144-20 =124). You can change it later.

Instead you could enter the amount the patient owes  ($20 copay = 20)

A claim is now created. $124 is the amount that will be billed to the insurance provider and $20 is the patient's balance.

That's it for a simple claim. Notice that the "write off" is calculated automatically (you don't have to post it separately).

You can also use the CALCULATE CREDIT button to enter the amount the patient owes

OD Link calculates the insurance credit ($596.87) for you leaving the patient balance at $20.00.
You can also enter a formula in the "calculate credit" window and OD Link will do the math (available in version 11.09, call for an update).

The VISION Ins. tool calculated that the patient owed $35.50, the patient had already paid $96.22 so just enter 35.50 - 96.22 and click "Owes"

Click "Owes" (or enter) gives this result. In this case the patient has a credit of $60.72
