Walk through an exam for Fred Flintstone.
Create an exam
Create an exam from the Patient Window:
1. Create "Exam"
2. Click "W/Diagnosis" (the diagnosis can be changed later)
NOTE: Exams can also be started in the Exam Window, go to the last three steps of this Tutorial to see those steps.
Choose a diagnosis (the diagnosis can changed later)
Your staff can guess that Fred might be a myope since his Rx is myopic
1. Click "Myopia"
An exam record is created
1. You can also add exams directly from the EXAM window by choosing a diagnosis template from the top right window. Most doctors just leave this window open all day and rarely go to the PATIENT window.
In this example, the meds and history have been auto entered since the OD Link entrance forms were used.
Exam fields
1. Click "More" to click through HPI
2. Entrance Acuity
3. Habitual entrance acuity
4. Click "+ Habitual" to pull the habitual forward, then make changes
5. Enter BVA
Add anterior and posterior segment findings
1. Choose "PSC 2+" from the "Lens" pull down
2. Click "OU" to apply it
3. Record "dilate"
4. Click "N.OU" to enter normal posterior seg findings
5. Add "cataract" to diagnosis
Write a patient plan
1. Add "Watch PSC" to plan
2. Click "Plan (boxes)" to check any other Plan items (customize by clicking "Edit")
3. Click "6mo" to change the recall to 6 mo
Bill for the Exam
1. Add 2 additional codes (you can also add more in the Transaction Window)
2. Click "99213"
Make any other changes to the Final Rx
This window opens if the "Findings" and "Final Rx" are different. This is an opportunity for the Doctor to review both. If there are no discrepancies, this window will not open.
Click "Continue"
Transaction is created
The Doctor is now taken to the Transaction Window to confirm billing. The front desk could create the claim or the Doctor can do it with 3 clicks in 10 seconds
1. Click Medicare (or insurance payer being used)
2. Patient owes "0"
3. Credit
